On Tuesday 31st March a group of HCS students travelled to London intent on discovering more about the UK's system of government!
Having left Hereford just after 6am the group of 10 staff and students arrived in London shortly after 10.30am. We then walked down to Parliament Square via Westminster Cathedral, arriving at Parliament just before our 11.30am tour. Having checked through security at the Houses of Parliament we were met by John Crichton (O.H.) who is currently working as a Parliamentary researcher and also by Paul Keetch, Hereford's M.P. who gave us a warm welcome. Following a photograph we then enjoyed a fascinating tour of both Houses of Parliament and lunch in the Jubilee Cafe.
We were fortunate to see many Members of Parliament and Peers, including Prof. Lord Winston, and we very much enjoyed seeing Parliament at work on such a busy day. In the afternoon we had a 'flight' on the London Eye and then walked to Trafalgar Square and Whitehall, finishing the day at College Green watching the many politicians being interviewed. All in all, a fantastic day was had by all, although we were all pretty tired when we arrived back in Hereford at 9pm!
Thanks go to the students who made the trip so enjoyable and also to Mrs Locke, Mr Priday and Mr Clarke for making the day one to remember!
