Mock Election - Wednesday 5th May |

Once again HCS election provided a very clear foretaste of what was to come in the General Election both locally and nationally. A full slate of ten candidates engaged in a brief but energetic campaign to win the hearts and minds of the HCS electorate! Sophisticated campaigning techniques were thrown to one side in favour of traditional hustings and innovative posters which appeared around school in great numbers!
The ten candidates represented the full political spectrum - from the ' People Pupils' Revolutionary Front' and the 'Blue Sky Thinking Party' to the more conventional political parties. Despite the imminence of public exams and the brief opening hours of the polling station, turnout was very pleasing with the result being announced by Mr Stanley from the Portman Centre Balcony to around 200 members of the school community in Castle Street who were joined by several rather surprised members of the public!
The eagerly awaited result .................. a six vote victory for Charles Prosser of the Conservative Party just ahead of Will Hodgeman for the Liberal Democrats...........and HCS got there first!! Click here for full list of candidates and votes.
My thanks to the ten candidates who were prepared to put their heads above the parapet and stand in what was a very good natured election. Also my grateful thanks to the many colleagues who helped to organise and run the election so successfully. It is good to see that democracy is thriving at HCS!!
