Greetings to everyone from a sun-soaked Costa del Sol. I am writing this from the Language School where all 41 HCS students are about to embark on their second 3 hour language session of the week. The school itself is a 20 minute walk from our hotel, with the classrooms running off a pretty vine covered terrace. The group has been split into 3 ability levels with very friendly teachers who are, quite rightly, insisting that as much Spanish is spoken as possible.
After the grind of a delayed flight and our eventual arrival at the hotel at 1.30am, we still managed to make an early start yesterday and packed in a morning trip to the very pretty village of Mijas before returning for lunch at the hotel and an afternoon of lessons. Then , with a late supper booked, everyone had the chance to take a dip in the sea before an evening spent watching the football or the entertainment laid on by the hotel, which last might consisted of a birds of prey display and a group performing songs from “Grease” – an unusual combination but the pupils seemed to enjoy it!
The hotel itself is excellent, with an unbelievable range of food to suit every taste and plenty for the pupils to do. We all intend to test out the pool after lunch, before walking to the local amusement park for the afternoon. I also have a feeling a few pupils, and the odd member of staff, will watch the big match this evening!
Please keep an eye out for more news as the week goes on.
¡Hasta pronto!
