On Thursday 30 April many musicians from HCS and other local primary schools got together to sing in what was a super performance of Mozart's Requiem. In the first half of the concert, played to a capacity audience in the cathedral, Upper Sixth cellist Joseph Fisher effortlessly wowed the audience with Fauré's sublime Elegie accompanied by the school orchestra. This was followed by a truly memorable performance of Saint-Saëns's Symphony No3 (Organ) with Upper Sixth student Daniel Dennis on the Father Willis!
In the second half, the Chapel Choir was joined by the Junior School Choir, Junior Singers, parents, staff, friends, Mordiford Primary School. Hampton Dene Primary School and the Steiner Academy to make up a chorus of c200 singers. The soloists followed the evening's trend so far with four Upper Sixth students fitting the bill - Emily Tompkins soprano, Tim Hanks countertenor, Ruairi Bowen tenor and Frazer Haviz bass. Notable highlights included a fiery Dies Irae, a poignant Lacrymosa and a dazzling Sanctus!
