On Monday 24th May 2010, 39 Hereford Cathedral School pupils from years 7 and 9 were lucky enough to be part of the 88,638 strong crowd that gave the England national football team a rapturous send off at their last game in the country before making their way to South Africa for the World Cup in June.
The vocal support and encouragement by the HCS pupils was tremendous and I think everybody had an amazing experience, with many pupils never having been to the magnificent stadium before.

England won the match against Mexico 3-1, with first half goals from Ledley King and Peter Crouch of Tottenham Hotspur, followed by a rasping shot by Liverpool's Glen Johnson early in the second half.
Thanks go to Mr Hamilton, Head of Academic PE, for his hard work in organising the trip and also to the other members of staff present, Mr Petrie, Mr Lutley, Miss Keegan and Miss Stevens.
Also present at the match were 1000 members of Her Majesty's armed forces who had been donated tickets in recognition of their invaluable service.
