Hereford Cathedral School’s Under 19 1st VII Netball Squad took part in the West Midlands Netball Tournament at the end of January 2011.
The girls won all but one of the matches in their group, notching up scalps such as King’s Worcester and Bromsgrove Grammar School, and only narrowly losing to Bablake. The Cathedral School went through to the semi finals as winners of the group; Bablake having lost to two of the teams Hereford Cathedral School beat comfortably.
Unfortunately, although the team gave a convincing performance in the semi-final, especially in the second half, Wrekin proved too strong and the Cathedral School lost 5 – 10.
This is the furthest in the competition any Hereford team has ever managed to go, and is particularly impressive considering the size of the Cathedral School and the fact that the West Midlands is one of the strongest netball regions in the country.
Every member of the squad played consistently well and should be proud of their achievements.
