Appointment of new Deputy Head at Hereford Cathedral School

 The Headmaster and Governors are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Bruce Blyth as Deputy Head of Hereford Cathedral School from September 2010.

Mr Blyth is currently Head of Year 9 at Hampton School where he oversees the pastoral and academic care of over 180 pupils.  He acts as assistant Head of Geography and is cricket coach to the 2nd XI.

 

Mr Blyth was educated at Kings College Choir School where he was Head Chorister participating in four international tours, thirteen recorded albums and singing the opening solo at The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in 1984 live on Radio 4.

He completed his secondary education at Charterhouse School where in addition to his academic qualifications he gained Grade 8 Distinction in Piano and Viola, was Vice-captain of the 1st XI cricket team and played cricket for Hampshire U19.

 

Mr Blyth read Geography at Manchester where he continued to pursue his interests in cricket and music. He was a member of the University’s 1st XI cricket and 1st V squash and Director of the University Chamber Choir.  He also played cricket for England Universities.

 

Prior to his appointment to Hampton School, Mr Blyth taught Geography at Bristol Grammar School and was Master-in-charge of 1st XI Cricket.

 

Mr Blyth is 38, married with two children.  He is interested in travel, team and racquet sports, skiing and is a MCC Full Playing Member.
