Gold Medal in Shooting Championships PDF Print E-mail

Hereford Cathedral School’s Head of Geography, Mrs Rhian Floyd, celebrated sporting success on Sunday (June 6) by winning a gold medal in Air Rifle shooting at the West Midlands Open Championships in Wolverhampton.

 

Joining the regions best in the championships, Mrs Floyd – who also shoots for Wales - not only won the gold medal in the Closed Championships, but also a silver in the Ladies event and bronze overall.

Having recently returned from the Commonwealth Shooting Federation Championships in Delhi, the Cathedral School teacher has now also been nominated as reserve – currently third in Wales - for the Welsh Ladies Air Rifle Commonwealth Team.  Final team selection meetings take place this month and announcements will be made in August 2010, as to whether Mrs Floyd will be returning to India for the Commonwealth Games in October.

 

Mrs Rhian Floyd, Hereford Cathedral School’s Head of Geography said:

 

“I thoroughly enjoyed shooting in the West Midlands Championships, and it is always pleasing to come home with medals.”

 

“Going to Delhi, as part of Team Wales, for qualifying was an amazing experience and one that I will never forget; I hope that I can return to India for the Games in October.”
