Two current Hereford Cathedral School students recently received musical accolades, as they were awarded diplomas by Trinity College of Music in London.

Highly talented student Patrick Dunachie, aged 16, has been awarded a Licentiate of Trinity College London Diploma.  The standard of Patrick’s performance is therefore recognised as equivalent to the performance component on completion of a full-time undergraduate at a conservatoire. Patrick hopes to continue his musical studies as a choral scholar at Oxbridge, however he will spend the next two years studying at Hereford Cathedral School involved in choral, orchestral and chamber music, in addition to his academic studies.

Cathedral School student Mary Wall, aged 18, who sang Soprano, has been awarded an Associate of Trinity College London Diploma.  The standard of Mary’s work was equivalent to the performance component of the first year in a full-time undergraduate at a conservatoire. In addition to her vocal studies, Mary is a Violinist, Viola player and Pianist. After leaving school this summer Mary has a place to read medicine at Birmingham.

David Evans, Hereford Cathedral School’s Director of Music said:

“Accolades of this level for school students are rare, but both now join the handful of Cathedral School musicians who have achieved diplomas in recent years.  Our congratulation’s to them both.”
