Hereford Cathedral School’s Director of Games, Mr Richard Skyrme, celebrated coaching success on Friday (July 2) by being appointed to train Norway in the European Cricket Championships in Guernsey.
Joining the elite European Cricket teams in the Championships, Mr Skyrme – who was also Captain of Herefordshire Country Cricket Club – will fly out on Monday, July 12 and hopes to guide Norway to promotion into Division One. Competition in Division Two, however, will be fierce with Norway and the Cathedral School Sporting Director facing fixtures against Israel, France, Gibraltar, Germany and Guernsey.
Richard Skyrme, Hereford Cathedral School’s Director of Games said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me! To work with an international team like Norway over a whole tournament is brilliant.”
“Past coaching in Europe has seen me make flying visits with various international sides, but my extended stay with the Norway team will really help me to develop players and tactics.”
“I must thank Paul Smith (Headmaster of Hereford Cathedral School) and the school for their support and understanding. I look forward to returning to the Cathedral School with a wealth of new knowledge and experiences.”
