Hereford Cathedral School welcomed students from across Herefordshire this week, as the school started its free weekly Latin Masterclass for keen linguists in Years 9 and 10.
The two year course (WJEC Level Two), organised by the impressive Cathedral School Classics Department, and supported by the Roman Society, offers a lively hands-on course (term-time only), designed to support modern languages and explore the foundations of the English Language, as well as give a solid grounding in Latin.
25 students joined the class for the first Thursday session, between 4pm and 5.15pm, with each enjoying and making the most of the free learning opportunity.
Siobhan Desouza, Hereford Cathedral School’s Classics Teacher and organiser of the two-year community Latin Masterclass said:
“Interest in the Latin Masterclass has been fantastic and it is a privilege to be able to offer the course, free of charge, to any keen linguist in Years 9 and 10.”
“It is great that Latin has become so popular again with the scholars of Herefordshire.”
Places are limited, but if you would like to join the weekly Latin Masterclass at Hereford Cathedral School please contact Sionhan Desouze in the Cathedral School’s Classics Department on 01432 363522 or visit www.herefordcs.com
