Artist hosts clay workshop for HCS Sixth Formers

Verity Howard's clay workshop

Hereford Cathedral School A Level Art students got to grips with clay at a recent workshop with young Herefordshire artist, Verity Howard.

The Year 12 and 13 pupils learned the techniques of slab building and monoprinting on to clay from Verity, who recently graduated from Manchester School of Art, and has won several awards for her clay sculptures.

Verity talked to the students about her own practise, about college life and engaged them in developing their own project work in two and three-dimensional clay pieces. The morning was spent learning how to draw with and apply clay slips, and in the afternoon the students developed more sculptural clay structures.
