HCS pupils try out new all-weather sports facility

New all-weather sports facility at HCS

Hereford Cathedral School has unveiled a new all-weather sports facility, for use by both Junior and Senior School pupils.

The new astro turf surface will be used for hockey, netball, football, and also as a recreational space at breaktimes.

Headmaster Mr Smith commented: “We are delighted with our new all-weather facility, which has already experienced snow!  I have no doubt that this new addition to our recreational facilities will be hugely valued by both pupils and staff alike.  I am extremely grateful to Mr Patrick Henchoz, Mr Phil Brace and Mr Howard Giddens for all their expert advice and hard work in helping us to establish this marvellous new facility.”

Junior School Head of Games and PE Mr Turpin added: “The new astro turf surface has already been of great benefit to the Junior School; it has been a good surface for our Year 3 and 4 girls’ hockey lessons. In the spring this will continue with netball lessons and matches. It is a great use of the space and the whole school is benefiting from it.”
