Open house heralds Hereford Cathedral School's return to boarding

Boarding house

Hereford Cathedral School heralded its return to boarding at the weekend by hosting an open house event at the School’s new boarding facility.

Last Saturday, HCS staff welcomed almost 200 people through the doors of Wilmot House in How Caple. Local residents, parents and pupils past and present enjoyed tours of the boarding house and refreshments in the beautiful oak-panelled dining room.

Resident boarders, who have lived at Wilmot House since April, were on hand to guide the visitors through the property, and discuss HCS boarding life with visitors.

Several previous owners of the property were among the guests, and were keen to see how the property had been transformed since the days of its use as the country hotel How Caple Grange and before.

HCS Headmaster Mr Smith commented: “It was marvellous to open our doors to show local residents, staff, parents, pupils (past and present) and other visitors the quality of boarding provision that Wilmot House has to offer. The pupil residents were proud to show off their new home, and everyone seemed to be as impressed as I am about the excellent facilities, family feel and tasteful decor. The day was a real triumph and my thanks to all the boarding staff and pupil residents for helping to make the event such a success.”
