Presentation marks Mr Wilkes’ 28 years in CCF
Hereford Cathedral School recently marked Mr Colin Wilkes’ commitment to the School’s Combined Cadet Force with the presentation of a watch.
The engraved Royal Air Force wristwatch marks Mr Wilkes’ 28 years of CCF service. He served in the Royal Navy section initially and after a few years joined the RAF section. He worked his way through the ranks to Squadron Leader, where he was the officer commanding the RAF section.
Since 1990, Mr Wilkes has attended over 100 residential camps, field days and courses and has earned three medals from the Queen for his efforts: the Golden Jubilee Medal, the Diamond Jubilee Medal and a Cadet Services Medal with two bars.
HCS Headmaster Mr Smith commented: “On behalf of the CCF it gives me great pleasure in awarding Mr Wilkes a small token of appreciation for his lengthy service.”
Mr Wilkes commented: "I was very moved to receive this beautiful present. I will wear it with great pride as it reminds me of my very happy time with the Cadet Force."
