Our dedicated Careers and Higher Education Team provides a comprehensive careers information, education and guidance facility. This is available to advise and enhance appropriate decision-making by students when selecting their post-16 options, higher education courses, employment and training options or gap year possibilities. Students are also assigned a UCAS Co-ordinator who provides expert advice on the university application process.
Throughout the Sixth Form, students are provided with the opportunity to meet with the Careers and Higher Education Team on an individual or group basis. Students are encouraged to make use of the extensive resources within the Careers Library.
Members of the Sixth Form also have the opportunity to attend a series of events on Higher Education matters. For students in Year 12 this is supported by a visit to a university department and the Higher Education Fair at Worcester. There is also a Higher Education evening for Year 12 parents and students. In Year 13 mock interviews are arranged with specialists in the field chosen by the student.
Students continue to be supported once they have left school through a post A-Level guidance service.
At Hereford Cathedral School, we emphasise the importance of work experience, and actively encourage Sixth Form students to source placements in holiday times. The Head of Careers is available to meet with students on request to facilitate setting up useful and purposeful placements.
