Physics Technician

Hereford Cathedral School seeks to appoint a Science Technician (Physics). We are looking for a skilled technician to assist the Head of Science and teachers in the organisation, preparation and maintenance of resources and equipment for the science department.

Location: Hereford   
Description: 35 hours per week - 8.30am to 4.00pm.Term time (36 weeks per year)
Salary: Starting at FTE £19,632. This equates to £15,055 for work pattern detailed above. 

Our Science technicians:
    • Provide all the required technical support to enable laboratories to function effectively whilst adhering to correct procedure and Health and Safety (H&S) guidelines.
    • Supervise stock control, order of materials and oversee the department materials and budget in consultation with Head of Science.

We are looking for someone with good knowledge of the subject and the ability to form excellent working relationships. A willingness to support and ability to remain calm under pressure are essential criteria for this post.

Residential Boarding Assistant

Hereford Cathedral School seeks to appoint a Residential Boarding Assistant to work with our boarding house team to provide outstanding pastoral care to our boarders.

Location: Herefordshire (Wilmot House)
Accommodation: Free accommodation is available during term time and by arrangement during School holidays.
Hours of Work: Full time for 41 weeks per year.
The rota will be as agreed with the Houseparent and shifts of varying length will lie between 6.30am and 11pm, including weekends. Additional hours will occasionally be required for major School or House events. There will be a day off of at least a 24 hour period during each week.
Overnight on call during days of work from 11pm to 6.30am Flexibility in hours will be required on occasion to take account of the changing needs and requirements of a Boarding House.
Pay: £20,974


The Residential Boarding Assistant will assist with and contribute to the supervision and care of the boarders, with particular responsibility for the health, clothing and general well-being of those in the House.  They will organise and support the domestic staff and ensure that they carry out their work effectively and efficiently.


The role of Residential Boarding Assistant is essential to the smooth functioning of the boarding house. It is also an excellent opportunity to help develop and nourish a small group of (mostly) international pupils. Pupils are generally well-behaved, motivated in their studies and enjoy living in the small boarding community of Wilmot House. There will be opportunities to escort pupils on excursions to places of interest, locally and further afield and to develop links with the wider school community, in areas such as music, sport and art, in particular.


The boarding staff are a small, well-knit team, who take great pride in looking after and nurturing our boarding pupils. This role will also offer the opportunity to develop a career in boarding through training courses and feedback from experienced colleagues.

Minibus Driver 

Location: Hereford

Description: 10 hours per week over 5 days. 6.30am-8.30am

or 20 hours and 6.30am-8.30 am 3.30pm -5.30pm

Term-time only (36 weeks)

Salary: 10 hours per week - £16,023 per annum pro rata. This equates to £3,511.

Salary: 20 hours per week - £16,023 per annum pro rata. This equates to £7,022.

We are looking to appoint a skilled School Minibus Driver to join our transport department.

All drivers of the school minibuses must:

Be over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
Have held a category B licence for at least 2 years.
Have a D1 entitlement on their licence.
Undergo a minibus driving assessment and must successfully pass this test to be employed.
Ensure the emotional and physical welfare of the pupils in their care in line with Hereford Cathedral School Child Protection Guidelines
Duties shall include the following:

To safely transport pupils and staff from one location to another ensuring that all Road Traffic Act Legislation is adhered to.
To maintain good customer relations with parents and schools and contribute to a positive atmosphere on the minibus.
Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks on minibus i.e. oil level, fuel, water etc.
