TEACHER OF HISTORY

September 2018

Location: Hereford   Description: Full time and permanent 

Hereford Cathedral School seeks to appoint an outstanding Teacher of History for September 2018.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful department and teach History right across the age and ability range. The post will suit a high-calibre History graduate, either an NQT or more experienced teacher, with the enthusiasm, energy and commitment to really support, stretch and encourage their pupils.

Results at GCSE and A-Level are consistently excellent. The post will include opportunities to teach History from Year 7 to Year 13.

The School was inspected by ISI in 2014 and graded “excellent” in each of the eight categories.

Hereford Cathedral School has a well-established and thriving extra-curricular programme, and the successful applicant will be expected to play an active part in this.

TEACHER OF MUSIC

From September 2018

Location: Hereford   Description: Full time and permanent 

Hereford Cathedral School seeks to appoint a talented, dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher of Music to join our hugely successful Music Department.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain wide experience in one of the leading music schools in the West Midlands. The post would suit an NQT or an ambitious teacher looking for career development

The post will encompass five areas: 
1)    Academic Teaching Years 7 – 13
2)    Instrumental Teaching
3)    Chamber music/orchestral/band coaching 
4)    Management
5)    Outreach

The role is extremely varied, but could be customised to play to the strengths of the right candidate. It is an exciting and varied post within this supportive, happy and thriving musical community, which takes an active role in both Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

TEACHER OF CLASSICS

From September 2018

Location: Hereford   Description: Full time and Permanent 

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Classicist to join this vibrant department from September 2018.

We require an inspirational teacher who will be able to motivate pupils and further the department’s excellent academic record. The successful candidate will teach Latin, from Year 8 beginners to Oxbridge entrance, and Classical Civilisation at A-level. Greek, usually taught to GCSE, would be an advantage.

Pupil uptake of the classical subjects and results in public exams are excellent. Latin which is taught to all pupils is a popular GCSE option and this remains the case at A Level. Classical Civilisation and Greek also flourish in the Sixth Form and many of our students pursue their Classics at university.

We are looking for a Teacher with first-rate inter-personal skills, the ability to work well and communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents. In addition, energy, vision and high expectations are essential qualities in this position. The successful candidate’s professional enthusiasm and commitment will project a progressive and positive image of Classics in all areas of school life.

The post would suit an NQT or, equally, a Teacher of greater experience.

In addition to his or her academic teaching and leadership responsibilities, the successful candidate will also be asked to contribute fully to the pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school.

SCHOOL MINIBUS DRIVER

Location: Hereford

Description: 10 hours per week over 5 days. 6.30am-8.30am. Term-time only (36 weeks)

Salary: £13,412 per annum pro rata. This equates to £2,998.

We are looking to appoint a skilled School Minibus Driver to join our transport department.

All drivers of the school minibuses must:

  • Be over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
  • Have held a category B licence for at least 2 years.
  • Have a D1 entitlement on their licence.
  • Undergo a Worcester County Council minibus driving assessment and must successfully pass this test to be employed.
  • Ensure the emotional and physical welfare of the pupils in their care in line with Hereford Cathedral School Child Protection Guidelines

Duties shall include the following:

  • To safely transport pupils and staff from one location to another ensuring that all Road Traffic Act Legislation is adhered to.
  • To maintain good customer relations with parents and schools and contribute to a positive atmosphere on the minibus.
  • Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks on minibus i.e. oil level, fuel, water etc.
