Head of Physical Education and Boys’ Games Teacher

Location: Hereford  

Description: Full time, permanent. 

Hereford Cathedral School seeks to appoint a full-time teacher of PE from January 2020 or for the right candidate we would be prepared to wait until September 2020.  

We require a highly motivated and experienced teacher prepared to undertake the demands of working in an outstanding co-educational day school; which will include a full timetable within the Sports Department, as well as playing an active role in wider school life.
We anticipate appointing a suitably qualified, enthusiastic and committed PE specialist, with an expertise in coaching or playing in one or more of our boys’ main team sports – Rugby Union, Association Football and Cricket.

Depending on skills and experience the successful candidate will be expected to lead the school’s thriving academic PE programme, in addition to the curriculum teaching of the subject across the age range, from Year 7 to GCSE and A-level/BTEC

Essential qualities are first-rate interpersonal skills, energy, vision, high expectations and the ability to work well and communicate effectively with pupils, colleagues and parents.  

Candidates for the position should be willing to contribute fully to the pastoral and extensive extra-curricular life of the school. This will include coaching teams beyond normal school hours including weekends and some evenings throughout the year.

School Staff Instructor (SSI)

Location: Hereford 
Description: 3 days per week dedicated to SSI role, Term-time plus minimum of 4 weeks during school holidays (min 40 weeks per year). Remaining 2 days per week depending on experience. Flexible and part time working may be considered. 
Salary: Starting salary £26,231 per annum pro rata. This equates to £22,351 for the work pattern detailed above. 

The SSI can also claim pay from the MOD for up to 51 days per annum, currently approximately £71 per day for full days worked, this is in addition to the School’s salary.  Other expenses may be payable, subject to MOD regulations.
Hereford Cathedral School are seeking to appoint a School Staff Instructor to support the delivery of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) programmes. The CCF School Staff Instructor must be capable of efficiently running a large CCF on a day-to-day basis. Excellent interpersonal and administration skills are an essential requirement for this post. 

Ideally, the successful applicant will be from a military background and through previous experience and training will play a key role in maintaining the high standards of the Combined Cadet Force. The CCF School Staff Instructor plays an integral part in the military training of cadets. This includes whole day and weekend exercises, as well as annual camps. 

The SSI role consists of three days per week term time plus four weeks (40 weeks per year) but full time working may be considered for candidates who are able to demonstrate skills, knowledge and experience in other areas such as coaching sport, DofE, driving, undertaking duties as part of the Staff Duty Rota.

School Minibus Driver 

Description:  10 hours per week over 5 days. 6.30am-8.30 am 
                   or 20 hours and 6.30am-8.30 am 3.30pm -5.30pm

Term-time only (36 weeks)

Salary: 10 hours per week - £14,549 per annum pro rata. This equates to £3,188.
Salary: 20 hours per week - £14,549 per annum pro rata. This equates to £6,376.

We are looking to appoint a skilled School Minibus Driver to join our transport department. 

All drivers of the school minibuses must:
•    Be over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
•    Have held a category B licence for at least 2 years.
•    Have a D1 entitlement on their licence.  
•    Undergo a Worcester County Council minibus driving assessment and must successfully pass this test to be employed.
•    Ensure the emotional and physical welfare of the pupils in their care in line with Hereford Cathedral School Child Protection Guidelines

Duties shall include the following:
•    To safely transport pupils and staff from one location to another ensuring that all Road Traffic Act Legislation is adhered to.
•    To maintain good customer relations with parents and schools and contribute to a positive atmosphere on the minibus. 
•    Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks on minibus i.e. oil level, fuel, water etc.
