Accountant 

We are seeking an Accountant to provide high level of professional accounting support. 

Location: Hereford   Description: 37.5 hours per week, all year round
Salary: £31,280 -£33,895 per year (Support scale point 36-41)

Reporting to the Bursar, the post holders will be responsible for budgeting and forecasting, completing statutory and management accounts, effectively monitoring the accounts, communication with and providing financial training to non-finance managers and contributing to the continued development of the management reporting systems. They will also compile and present financial reports for the Governors of the School. 

The post holder will manage the finance department and team. 

Applicants must be a qualified accountant and member of a finance professional body (e.g. ACCA, CIMA) with evidence of continued professional development and an understanding of financial management process and systems.

We are looking for someone with experience of audit and/or managing and monitoring significant budgets. An understanding of working within the charitable sector would be an advantage. 

Ability to effectively communicate financial matters to non-financial senior academics, prioritising tasks independently and remaining focused and capable of producing results is crucial to your success in the post.

It is vital that you possess demonstrable track record of proactively suggesting improvements and new methods of working and reporting, problem-solving and decision-making, coupled with a flexible outlook, willingness to adopt change and take ownership for work

Examinations Invigilators 

Location: Hereford Cathedral School are looking to expand its team of examinations invigilators to assist the school with the supervision of pupils during examinations in accordance with examination board regulations. 


This is a flexible role with varying hours and you will be expected to be available during the main examination periods (currently November and May/June).
Description: Casual/part-time contract
Salary: £8.57


 For this post you must meet the following essential requirements:
•    Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
•    Ability to keep calm under pressure or during unexpected circumstances
•    A logical, methodical approach to work.
•    Good verbal and written communication skills
•    Ability to work as part of a team or individually, as required
•    Ability to work to predetermined instructions with accuracy and attention to detail
•    Able to commit to and honour previously agreed invigilation sessions
•    Punctual
•    Able to work on own initiative with a common sense approach

Previous invigilator experience would be an advantage.

Maintenance Assistant

Hereford Cathedral School are looking to appoint a Maintenance Assistant to work in our busy department.

Location: Hereford (City Centre)
Description:  35 hours a week - Full Time

Salary:  Starting at £18,209 -  £20,823 for full time, all year round, work pattern (negotiable depending on skills and experience).

The purpose of the job is to support the Estates Management team in all aspects of maintenance delivery by providing a comprehensive reactive and planned maintenance service for all equipment and services across the whole school

Essentials for this role are:
• Knowledge of general maintenance relating to buildings, mechanical and electrical services, decoration, plumbing and gardening.
• Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation
• Demonstrates high levels of time management using own initiative to  manage a heavy workload and at times conflicting priorities as well as tracking progress on a wide range of tasks
• Naturally demonstrates a ‘can do’ helpful attitude
• Able to work flexibly, some earlier starts, evenings and weekends will be required in support of wider school functions from time to time
• Understands their role in the context of safeguarding children and young people.

Full UK Driving Licence, preferably with the ability to drive minibuses.

School Minibus Driver

Location: Hereford 
Description:  10 hours per week over 5 days. 6.30am-8.30 am 
                   or 20 hours and 6.30am-8.30 am 3.30pm -5.30pm
                   Term-time only (36 weeks)

Salary: 10 hours per week - £14,549 per annum pro rata. This equates to £3,188.
Salary: 20 hours per week - £14,549 per annum pro rata. This equates to £6,376.

We are looking to appoint a skilled School Minibus Driver to join our transport department.

All drivers of the school minibuses must:
•    Be over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
•    Have held a category B licence for at least 2 years.
•    Have a D1 entitlement on their licence.  
•    Undergo a Worcester County Council minibus driving assessment and must successfully pass this test to be employed.
•    Ensure the emotional and physical welfare of the pupils in their care in line with Hereford Cathedral School Safeguarding Guidelines

Duties shall include the following:
•    To safely transport pupils and staff from one location to another ensuring that all Road Traffic Act Legislation is adhered to.
•    To maintain good customer relations with parents and schools and contribute to a positive atmosphere on the minibus. 
•    Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks on minibus i.e. oil level, fuel, water etc.
