Head of Biology

Opportunity 
Hereford Cathedral School seeks to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Head of Biology to join our outstanding faculty. The successful candidate will set the vision and direction for the department and be responsible for ensuring that our curriculum is aligned to excellence to A Level and beyond.

This is a role for a teacher wishing to take the next step in their career or an experienced teacher/HoD, who can lead a team of committed and talented teachers, as well as inspire the next generations of biologists. Leadership experience is not essential, but applicants must be able to demonstrate the skills required to lead a department.

Who is an outstanding teacher of Biology
Who can lead and line-manage the team of qualified teachers and technician

Who will interpret data and tracking to ensure that all pupils make necessary progress
Who is keen to ensure the Biology co-curricular and trips programme continues and thrives
Who will take responsibility for the quality of Biology provision, teaching, curriculum and assessment
Who is able to oversee the Biology exam schedule
Who can keep up-to-date with the changes from exam boards, specifications and government guidance, and who can communicate these effectively to the team
Who will liaise with our Junior School counterpart to ensure a smooth and coherent transition for the new intake

Examinations Invigilator

Post: Examinations Invigilator
Salary: £12.01 per hour (this includes payment for holiday pay)
Work pattern: Zero hour contract during Term time exam period.

The school is looking to recruit an Examinations Invigilator. The core purpose of this role is to assist and support the Examinations Officer in ensuring the Examinations run smoothly for the pupils. Duties will include setting up the Exam Hall, ensuring the security of the exam papers, collecting the papers and ensuring a calm and quiet environment. GAP Student

Opportunity
Hereford Cathedral Junior School is looking for enthusiastic GAP students to join the staff for
the 2023-24 academic year. Duties may include working in the school office, coaching sport, assisting in PE & Games lessons, working as a classroom assistant, taking part in school trips, supporting our drama and music departments and much more (we even pay you!).
This might appeal to someone who hopes to go into the teaching profession, but this is by no means essential.

Food Service Assistant 

Location: Hereford 
Description:  30 hours per week over 5 days and occasional evening and weekend work. Term-time plus two weeks (38 weeks)
Salary: £18,008 per annum pro rata. This equates to £12,942. (9.89 per hour)

Hereford Cathedral School are looking to appoint a Food Service Assistant to work in our busy catering department from September 2021.

The core purpose of this role is to provide effective support to the Catering Manager through the ability to prepare food to a high standard, serve food to staff and pupils and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.

Essential skills for this role are:
The ability to deliver excellent customer service
Ability to cope with periods of pressure and prioritise workload accordingly, meeting all deadlines 
Naturally demonstrates a ‘can do’ helpful attitude
Ability to work and communicate effectively as a member of a team
Able to work flexibly, some earlier starts, evenings and weekends will be required in support of wider school functions from time to time
Some knowledge of Health and Safety procedures in a catering environment
Some knowledge of food preparation and cooking skills

School Minibus Driver 

Location: Hereford 
Description:  20 hours and 6.30am-8.30 am 3.30pm -5.30pm 
                    Term-time only (36 weeks per year)

Salary: £10,682 per year
6.30am-8.30 am (10 hours per week) - £15.14 per hour. This equates to £6,564.
             3.30pm -5.30pm (10 hours per week) - £9.50 per hour. This equates to £4,118.

We are looking to appoint a skilled School Minibus Driver to join our transport department. 

All drivers of the school minibuses must:
•    Be over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes)
•    Have held a category B licence for at least 2 years.
•    Have a D1 entitlement on their licence.  
•    Undergo a minibus driving assessment and must successfully pass this test to be employed.
•    Ensure the emotional and physical welfare of the pupils in their care in line with Hereford Cathedral School Child Protection Guidelines

Duties shall include the following:
•    To safely transport pupils and staff from one location to another ensuring that all Road Traffic Act Legislation is adhered to.
•    To maintain good customer relations with parents and schools and contribute to a positive atmosphere on the minibus. 
•    Carry out daily and weekly vehicle checks on minibus i.e. oil level, fuel, water etc.
