Vive la difference! HCS celebrates School Diversity Week

Diversity Week

We are celebrating School Diversity Week with a whole host of activities to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues among the HCS community. Monday morning’s chapel service saw pupils deliver a powerful presentation about LGBTQ+ icons. Mrs Beavan and Ms Rimington have crafted some excellent diversity displays all over the school campus featuring lots of useful information about race, language and more, while Year 12 pupil Lola P (pictured above) has spent a great deal of their time creating three wall displays dedicated to neurodiversity, sexuality and gender.

Rainbow ribbons have been made available to pupils and staff, with optional donations to SDW charity Just Like Us. Not content with a mere ribbon, Mr Abbott has also been wearing a spectacular rainbow-coloured tie with his usual flair!

This weekend, pupils and staff are invited to get creative in the kitchen for our diversity cake competition. We hope there will be some colourful creations on display ready to be judged ahead of our cake sale at morning break on Monday 28 June. We can’t wait to see your diversity bakes!
