Year 8 get innovative in trainer design challenge

Trainer design contest

Year 8 took part in an Enterprise Day run by Economics and Business PGCE students from the University of Worcester. Students were given a project which involved designing and marketing a new brand of trainers within a set budget. Groups had to pitch their product to the panel of judges who scored them across a variety of criteria including teamwork, creativity, presentation skills and budgeting.

"The day was an exciting opportunity for our students to develop their financial skills and business acumen" - said Mr Carr (Economics and Business Studies teacher at Hereford Cathedral School).

Trainer design features ranged from: waterproof trainers with profits going towards protecting the ocean, vegan sourced materials, personalisation features, cushion sole comfort, anti-smell technology and rocket boosters at a budget price.

Despite tough competition, Group 5, made up of Max L, Oskaras R, Fred M, Lydia P, Lisabel G, Seth M and Michael M, won with their trainer design, Xtrix! A trainer for the extreme with built-in Google home technology and with profits going towards helping to fight the Australian bushfires.

Well done to all that took part and thank you to the Economics and Business PGCE students from the University of Worcester for taking the time out of their busy schedules to run such a forward-thinking and educational event.
