The Powell Theatre at Hereford Cathedral School came alive last night as pupils from Years 7 to 12 took to the stage for the annual Speech and Drama Summer Revues.

The evening was divided into two separate events, beginning with the Year 7 and 8 revue. Audiences were treated to a lively and diverse programme, including adaptations of classics such as Macbeth on the Loose, King John’s Christmas and The Winslow Boy. Pupils also delighted with humorous pieces like Ernie’s Incredible Illucinations, Not the Next Cheerleader and How to Spot an Alien, showcasing their flair for comic timing and characterisation.

Later in the evening, the senior revue for Years 9 to 12 presented a rich selection of dramatic material. Performances ranged from the thought-provoking Antigone by Sophocles and The Lord of the Flies by William Golding to powerful extracts from To Kill a Mockingbird and Playhouse Creatures by April De Angelis. The programme also featured original work and light-hearted scenes, such as Dear Santa and A Slice of Life – an original piece.

Both revues were a fantastic celebration of the pupils’ hard work, talent and creativity. Special thanks go to Miss White, Mrs Rees and Mr Abbott for their dedication and support in preparing the pupils for these memorable performances.
