Hereford Cathedral Junior School’s Year 6 pupils dazzled audiences this week with their lively end-of-year production of Aladdin Trouble – A Genie-ous Musical by Mark and Helen Johnson.
The cast brought the bustling streets of old Peking to life with energy, humour and infectious enthusiasm, delighting the audience in a colourful performance packed with song, dance and laughter.
Hywel J shone in the title role of Aladdin, while Lily F brought grace and confidence to the part of Princess Jasmine. Toby M had the audience in stitches as the flamboyant Widow Twankey, and Martha D lit up the stage as the all-powerful, all-singing Genie. One of the standout performances came from Jose A-N, with his fantastically wicked expressions and comic timing as the Sultan.
The production was directed by Mrs Hoffmann with musical direction from Miss Toolan. Both brought out the very best in the cast and oversaw a show full of colour, character and charm.
The Year 6 production is always a highlight of the school calendar, and this year’s cast did not disappoint. With catchy tunes, bold characters and plenty of laughs, Aladdin Trouble proved the perfect way to celebrate the end of the school year.
