England call-up for 1st XV Captain George

George

Congratulations to Hereford Cathedral School Year 13 Rugby Captain, George K, who has been selected for the U18 England Rugby squad's fixture against France next month.

George's selection follows his successful performance at a recent England Rugby Development Camp at Bisham Abbey.

Head of Rugby, Mr Milsom commented: "I am incredibly proud of George and his development as both a rugby player and a young man. Having joined us in Year 7, it has been extremely rewarding for me personally to see his development over the last 7 years. His selection into the England Rugby U18s squad is a testament to his talent, commitment and hard work. We are all incredibly proud of him and cannot wait to see him shine on the field."

George played at Ledbury RFC from the age of 8. He has prioritised school rugby and has been a permanent fixture in the 1st XV squad since he was in Year 11. George has also helped HCS to win two Apple Cups, scoring in both wins.

George is really happy with his achievement, adding: "School have been really good, especially Mr Hunt, Mr Milsom and Mr Wheadon. They've got me to where I am today and I'm really grateful for that."

Seventeen-year-old George will follow in the footsteps on Will Butler OH, who represented England in the 2017 Six Nations U20 Championship win.
