Frankenstein's Aunt's comic cast has audiences rapt

Frankenstein's Aunt

Last week, audiences in Hereford Cathedral School's packed Powell Theatre were transported to deepest, darkest Bavaria to see the story of Frankenstein's Aunt unfold.

Pupils in years 8 and 9 performed this hilarious romp, written by Head of English Mr Abbott, to rapturous applause.

There were some excellent performances in the play, whose story begins where Mary Shelley's classic tale left off. With sound effects galore, a heady mix of werewolves and vampires, coupled with the excellent laboratory prop created by Mr Conington, the atmosphere was electric.

Mr Abbott commented: "At a very busy time of year, the 40 students involved worked incredibly hard to produce a very polished performance, and it was great to finally hear an audience genuinely chuckling throughout. Creating larger-than-life comic characters is a real challenge, but the cast have brought them to life as skilfully as Frankenstein did his monster. It is great to see a smiling audience emerge at the end of a hectic evening of comedy."
